Interview of Dhiraj Sooneelall Client Service Manager at Cim Global Business

For this edition of our Monthly newsletter, we interviewed Dhiraj Sooneelall who has been working with us for the past 11 years.

Could you tell us about your previous experience?

I started my career as a primary school teacher and at the same time, I was studying for the ACCA qualification on a part-time basis. During school holidays, I used to work as a part-time auditor/accountant with BIT Consultants, which was a small audit firm. This actually helped me apply what I learned and allowed me to gather experience towards my ACCA membership.

After completion my ACCA qualification, I joined the audit team at BDO DCDM and subsequently moved to Multiconsult Limited, which was part of the DCDM Group at that time. Multiconsult was then acquired by Cim and here I am today!

How long have you been with Cim Global Business?

I have been working for the company for 11 years now.

Tell us more about your job within the company.

In a nutshell, I manage a portfolio of approximately 200 companies with the assistance of a team of 10 professionals. I also serve on the Board of various client companies. I oversee the day-to-day administration of the companies within my portfolio and ensure with the relevant team members that the different tasks are completed on time and to the clients’ expectations.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy workouts in the gym, swimming, hiking and long drives. Mauritius is a beautiful country and if you love hiking and swimming, it is the perfect place to live!

What do you like about your job?

There's so much that I like about my job. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to interact with very high profile people who are very passionate about their job. I learn a lot from my clients by being involved in their structures and working towards meeting their goals.

I have made very good friends at work and I have wonderful team members, who are marvellous to work with. We stand united in good and tough times.

Also, we work in a very challenging and unpredictable environment. It is difficult to know in advance the requests that will come from our very sophisticated clients. I always need to find prompt solutions that will meet their needs and expectations. Therefore, the challenges that I face every day make the work very exciting.

Which countries have you visited? Which one is your favourite?

I have not travelled a lot. I have just been to India twice – once for business and the second time on a spiritual tour. I have been captivated by this multifaceted country.
